44 years ago today Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated at the loraine motel in memphis Tennessee, Which is where I'm living now. I was very excited all day to go downtown to the loraine motel and visit the memorial/civil rights museum which is now there to pay respects. I will take nothing away from MLK with my short rant of how sad i was when i arrived. Clearly one of the best and most amazing people ever to live, i felt there would be some sort of big memorial at the location. Granted i showed up at 11pm, however i was saddened to arrive to see nobody there besides one republican dickhead who had nothing but bad things to say about the situation and MS. JACKIE who i will explain now. 44 years ago when he was shot ms. jackie was and employee of the hotel and a resident as well. she stayed in the motel for several years after the death of MLK only to be dragged out kicking and screaming to make room for a gentrified upscale art neighborhood, museum and all around disney land that the loraine has become. SHE HAS BEEN LIVING IN A TENT EVER SINCE.. 40 years now living in front of the motel, STANDING staying for what she believes. Being I've only been here for a week i would say MS JACKIE has become the most relevant friend i have in memphis. So to show up today to some drunk republican asshole telling me why she should be there and why the gentrification was a good thing was enraging. ALL I CAN SAY IS RIP MLK. you were an amazing soul and thank you MS JACKIE for staying and fighting for what he believes in.... RIP MLK JR..
Today we woke up in playa del Carmen. And drive toward yukatan. Leaving Quintana roo. We stopped at an amazing little restaurant on a lake in the yukatan. Then spent the day at coba exploring the Mayan ruins. Coba is where they have the original "2012" Mayan calendar. Saw her with my own eyes. Then we made our way to a little colonial town in the middle of the Yucatan. Beautiful. Our hacienda is amazing. Big yard. Great pool. Great restaurant. Amazing day.
